It feels like just yesterday I was holding you in my arms at the hospital seeing you for the 1st time. It was so surreal. You were so perfect with that sweet round little head of dark hair and I couldn't believe you were mine. My heart had never felt so full of love in all my 25 years. You woke up today with a smile on your face letting us know that today you only had 3 year old kisses no more 2's little did you know when you were fast asleep the last night of you being 2 I took in every sweet aspect of your 2 year old body...your sweet finger and toes and your precious button nose, you new haircut, you belly so full, and you eyes the twitched while you slept. While you are my strong willed little man and you can test me to the brink you are also the most sensitive caring young boy a mommy could ask for. Today when you woke up you wanted sissy and she was the 1st one who you wanted to tell you were 3 and that melted my heart to see you share your joy with her. Your love for her is uncountable and I cannot wait to see it grow although I know you will have your differences I know you two will stand united together. I am so proud of the little man you are becoming. I don't think I will ever be able to tell you that enough. Sometimes, I look at you and your sweet little face and it brings tears to my eyes I am so proud of you. You are polite, inquisitive, funny, and often a little stubborn. You push the boundaries and that is putting it nicely. You need me mommy to kiss you if you get hurt and you need hugs for support and you need me every morning like a little duckling headed for your 1st swim--it is just your nature to need that extra push and attention when you wake up. You share your toys with your baby sister although tractors are still a little tough to get you to share. You keep me honest and you keep me humble. Most of all, you keep me smiling.
I hope you had an amazing birthday. You ate waffles and bacon (per your request) for breakfast, and then we went to Nannies to help her do yard work with your new hoe and shovel and had a birthday lunch that consisted on Uncle Matt putting whipped cream on your nose. You spoke to all your Aunts, Uncles and Grandparents near and far and where quite the chatterbox it made me grin to see you sooo proud. Later that evening we took you to the lobster store for dinner and although they didn't have your macaroni you handled it like a champ and settled for chicken. You sat like a BIG boy the entire time only once getting up to give mommy a hug ( you must have known I needed one).We sang you happy birthday and for the 1st time in your 3 years you loved the song. You got your bike and candy and while you insisted you wanted nothing else you and daddy went and put you together a entire tool set of real tools ( lets hope our new walls can handle you). You are so appreciative and by far your bike reined the #1 gift. You reminded us you are having a party it will just be in the summer so you can swim and play outside. Your birthday will always be the best day ever to me. It was the day I became your Mommy. Tonight as we lay down for bed we snuggled and for once you wanted to lay by mommy you let me feel your "whiskers" (the short hair on your head). Today I watched you blossom and took in every second of my three year old. We welcomed the 1st day of Spring with joy, hope and laughter. I thank you for making me a mommy--as I reminisced the day you were born, the first sight of you, your smells, your quirks and you endless wonder I realized just how lucky I am to have you in my life!!
My wish for you is that you will continue to take on the world with the passion you show us daily, and that you will embrace adventures that comes your way and that you share all your sweet love with those around you. This mommy cannot wait to see what the future for you brings as there is no doubt in my heart you will move mountains and I will be right by your side taking it all in.
